Big-museum websites, built for the smallest institutions.
Cuberis’s agentic AI solution for very small museums and historical societies. We build your site in plain HTML, with no content management system behind it, and Steward’s editor and AI builder keep it current.
Content management systems exist so non-technical people can update their own sites. For a small institution, that trade is no longer necessary.
No software running behind the site. Nothing to boot up, no database, no plugins loading on every visit.
No logins, no admin dashboard, no database, no plugins going out of date. Nearly every website hack targets exactly those.
Static sites used to need a developer for every edit. AI agents handle that now, so you get the speed without the upkeep.
We design and build your pages, then Steward turns them into a clean, fast, static website.
No separate admin address. Edit buttons appear on the pages you’re allowed to change.
Click what you want to change and get a simple form: edit wording, swap a photo, fix a date. Save.
The site rebuilds around your change and publishes it. Normally live about fifteen minutes later.
Deliberately small: no layouts, no blocks to drag, nothing you can break. A volunteer can be shown it once and be fine.
Send the change in plain language and we’ll do it. Same unlimited updates, no extra cost. Most institutions use both.
It isn’t the right answer for everyone, and we’d rather say so up front.
This is not an argument against WordPress. It’s our primary work, and the right choice for larger museums. It just used to be the only choice, even for a two-person society with fifteen pages. Steward matches the tool to the institution.
“Static” sounds like a limitation. For a site like yours, almost nothing you actually use is on the other side of that line.
The one thing people assume a static site can’t do. Steward builds full collection browsers: a search box, filters for date, type, subject or collection, and a results grid that updates as visitors narrow it. Filtered views can be linked and shared.
Catalogues of roughly ten thousand objects are comfortable, and because it’s all built in advance, searching is usually faster than a database-driven site.
Audio and video play on the page, each with a full transcript visitors and search engines can read. We can also help you record new stories.
Fast, full-text search across everything you publish.
Static says nothing about how a site looks. Animation, galleries, timelines, immersive exhibits: all fair game.
Embed your ticketing or giving platform on the page, or link out, as most WordPress museum sites already do.
Calendars, announcements, posts, contact and volunteer forms, sign-ups. Keeping them current is our job.
Full analytics, and search engines favor static sites for being fast and clean.
Two numbers: a flat monthly fee that covers everything ongoing, and a one-time project cost to build the site.
One flat fee. No hosting bill, no per-update charges, no surprise invoice for a typo fix.
Quoted before we start. Pay it up front, or spread it over time and fold it into your monthly fee.
Where you land is mostly a design question. Adapting your current design and bringing your content across sits at the low end; a full redesign, from our design system or fully custom, sits at the top. A genuinely large or unusual project can run above this range, and we’ll say so before you’ve spent anything.
Estimate Your Project CostContent updates mean changing the words, images, and pages you already have, and adding more of the same. New features and new design work are billed the traditional way, at $160/hour in 15-minute increments. Adding an event is an update; a whole new collections browser is a project.
Some or all of the build cost can fold into your monthly fee over a term. You get the site now and pay over time.
A written scope and a firm number before work begins. The quote is what you pay. No hourly meter on the build.
Hosting is inside the $149. No server bill, no renewal to remember, no third-party account in your name.
Outside a financing term you’ve agreed to, you’re not tied down, and the site itself is yours regardless.
The technology we use to build and maintain your site is genuinely advanced. What we hand you isn’t. It’s plain HTML, the most universally supported thing on the web. Take it and host it anywhere you like.
Click any question to expand it.
You write your content exactly as you do now; the words are yours. The AI assembles a fast, consistently designed site out of it every time something changes. We’re glad to help draft copy, but only if you ask.
Sign in on your site and edit buttons appear on what you can change. Click, edit, save, and it publishes in about fifteen minutes. The editor is narrow on purpose, so the design stays consistent and nothing breaks. Prefer not to sign in? Email us instead, at no extra cost.
Your own edits are live about fifteen minutes after you save. Changes you email us are usually done within a business day, and urgent ones, like a weather closure, get treated as urgent. Bigger jobs take a little longer.
We migrate content from existing sites regularly, and content that’s already written usually means a lower project cost. We’ll also tell you honestly if you should stay on WordPress: if your site genuinely needs it, moving would be a step backward.
Your site is a set of standard HTML files. We hand them over and any competent host can serve them: no proprietary format, no database to export. What you’d give up is the maintenance.
Multiple editors, real transactions, genuinely dynamic content: that’s a good problem, and squarely our main line of work. Your content comes with you, and choosing Steward now makes that move no harder later.
Most hacked sites are compromised through an out-of-date plugin, a stolen login, or a database vulnerability. A static site has none of those doors. Not magic, but it removes the risks behind nearly all real incidents at small institutions.
We built Steward because good web work has been out of reach for institutions your size. Between the design system path and spreading the build cost over a term, there’s usually a way. The Project Budget Estimator shows how the numbers change.
Tell us about your institution and what your website needs to do. We’ll tell you honestly whether Steward is the right fit, and if it isn’t, we’ll say so.
